Wildflower Farms Review: Decompress at a Nature Hotel in Hudson Valley

My husband surprised me with a child-free trip to Wildflower Farms in Hudson Valley, New York. He chose this destination because neither of us had ever been, and it was a relatively quick drive from our home in New Jersey. It took us a little over 2 hours to get there, which is much easier than driving to places like the Hamptons.

We only had 24 hours to get away, but somehow, our short stay felt like a week-long vacation. It was exactly what I needed after a hectic few months of navigating a corporate layoff, starting a business, and juggling life with kids. The entire experience felt like a mini wellness retreat.

Here is my honest Wildflower Farms review.

Wildflower Farms Hotel

The Grounds at Wildflower Farms

Wildflower Farms is nestled in a quiet, wooded area surrounded by nature. The hotel rooms are individual rustic cabins spread out across the property. We pulled up to the indoor-outdoor fire pit at the center of the hotel, and I knew this was going to be a relaxing, cozy experience.

I loved that everything was ground level and not some high-rise hotel. There are hotel cars to drive you to your room if you need them, but the grounds are very walkable. They carved out walking paths to make it easier to get around. The grounds had an elevated laid-back, outdoorsy vibe. I would recommend easy walking shoes to get around.

Wildflower Farms Hotel Room

Hotel Room

The hotel rooms are cozy and luxurious. I especially loved the gas fireplace, which I kept going the entire time, the back porch looking out into nature, and the soaking tub with an endless supply of herbal bath salts. I indulged in it all. I found myself trading in scrolling on my phone for bird-watching. They had binoculars in each room which I thought was a thoughtful way to encourage guests to take a break from the chaos of modern life.

Spa

Shortly after our arrival, we headed to the spa to get ready for massage appointments. We lounged by the indoor heated pool while we waited for our massages. They had a selection of beverages to sip on, including bone broth (which was insanely good) and Jasmine tea. It was very quiet and peaceful. We both enjoyed our massages and then quickly cleaned up to head to dinner.

Clay Restaurant

I was very much looking forward to my dinner at Clay. First, it was a farm-to-table menu with ingredients locally sourced or grown on their property. Secondly, it was my first child-free dinner in a long time. I couldn’t wait to not only eat delicious food but also to enjoy it uninterrupted.

If you have food sensitivities (like me), the on-site menu was easy to navigate with dishes labeled GF, Vegan, and Vegetarian. This extra step made the entire ordering experience very easy.

I’m not a huge drinker, so I started with the local kombucha. The Caraflax Cabbage starter was insanely good. It was packed with so much flavor. For dinner, I had the chicken dish with collards, apples, and northern beans. It was a huge portion and delicious. For dessert, I had an apple crisp with vegan vanilla ice cream. It’s usually hard for me to order dessert at a restaurant with food sensitivities but there was something for everyone. Overall, everything was tasty.

Breakfast was also great. We ordered a few things. I had the bacon and apple oatmeal. My husband had an egg dish plus the cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing.

Wildflower Farms Animals

Wildflower Farm Activities

There were many activities to choose from each day, including fitness classes, and walking trails onsite. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to do everything. I liked that there were a few activities to do without leaving the property.

We were able to squeeze in a morning walk/hike before breakfast. There are a few trails to choose from. We walked by the animals at the farm. They were very friendly and sweet. On our stroll, we also saw their large garden, where they grow some of their food. It was a great way to start the day.

Hospitality

Overall, the hospitality was fantastic. From the second we arrived, we were greeted with refreshments while the hotel staff whisked away our bags. The spa helped us to push our reservation back so we would have a few minutes to clean up before dinner. The staff packed our car with filtered cold water for our trip home. You truly feel taken care of. Not surprising, as it is an Auberge Resorts Collection hotel.

Takeaways: Wildflower Farms Review

I hope my Wildflower Farms review has inspired you to take the trip! The entire experience was lovely, and restorative. Honestly, I don’t have one complaint, and no I wasn’t paid to stay here or to write a review. Everything exceeded my expectations, from the rustic grounds and the cozy, private cabins to the local food, and warm hospitality. On our drive home, my husbands said, “I’d rather spend one night at a place like that than a week at a mediocre hotel.” I couldn’t agree more.
