Our Happy Day Farm visit was lovely. My mom, sister, and I spent a Friday morning in this New Jersey gem picking berries and walking through lavender fields. Since we cannot travel far due to COVID, I’ve been spending my days off indulging in all of the safe, local activities I can find. Things like hiking trails, parks, beaches (during the week to avoid the crowds), and farms.
At Happy Day Farm you can pick raspberries and blueberries. You pay for your container up front and fill it with as many berries as you can. The blueberry fields are in a separate part of the farm from the raspberries so you have to take a quick tractor ride to get to them. All parties were required to wear masks and sit apart on the tractor ride for COVID safety precautions.

Then there are the lavender fields. It has been a life long dream of mine to travel to the South of France during their lavender season. I got to experience a little taste during our Happy Day Farm visit. They had a beautiful lavender field that you could walk through and take pictures.

I grew up in this general area of central, New Jersey, and I haven’t been to half of the places I’ve been exploring lately. It’s amazing how many things there are to do when you start looking for them.
Our Happy Day Farm visit was a really fun way to relax, connect with nature, and help tame my longing for travel. Oh, it was delicious too.
Is there a local farm in your area you can explore?
