8 Books That Can Change Your Life

Need an inspirational read? I’m sharing 8 books that can change your life recommended by women I’ve featured on this site.

A few years ago, I had an interview series asking career women to share some of their favorite things from beauty products and wellness treatments to the people that inspired them. I wanted to learn from these ladies who were all doing great things.

One of the questions I asked was, “What book had the biggest impact on your life?” I selfishly asked this question because I love to read and wanted their recommendations. Of course, their answers did not disappoint. I loved that there weren’t any repeats either.

I’m resurrecting this list just in time for summer reading. Do you have goals you want to achieve but find yourself needing a little motivation? Maybe you need help shifting your mindset. These books are vetted by women in this community and have left a lasting impression. Maybe one of them will change your life too.

8 Books That Can Change Your Life

Alpha Girls by Julian Guthrie

Recommended by Isabel Hoppman, CEO of SWEET

Alpha Girls: The Women Upstarts Who Took on Silicon Valley’s Male Culture and Made the Deals of a Lifetime by Julian Guthrie. Guthrie recounts the incredible journeys of four women who rose to success in their 1970s venture firms before it was “cool” to be a working woman.

Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson

Recommended by Arminé Gambaryan, Business Manager & Author of Get Grounded

Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson. It’s amazing to read his life journey and understand how he made a name for himself.  His approach to becoming a successful entrepreneur makes you realize that it is possible with motivation and dedication.  He’s had a few failures, however, that never discouraged him to stop.

The Courage to Be Disliked

Recommended by Sarah Dahk, Founder of Bareroot

The Courage to Be Disliked is a book that explores the importance of liking oneself, contributing to the community, and appreciating one another for just ‘being’, also accepting that not everyone will like you, so just focus on being yourself, while focusing on those who do like you.

The Razor’s Edge by Somerset Maugham

Recommended by Sabrina Dax, Publicist

The Razor’s Edge by Somerset Maugham. Larry, the main character, must choose between two paths – one where he becomes a stockbroker and the other where he foregoes a life of wealth and security. The story is an important reminder that the safest choice isn’t always the most rewarding.

Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Deck

Recommended by Alyssa Cerrachio, Personal Trainer

Mindset by Carol S. Dweck! This book has had the biggest impact on my life because it explores different ways we view and deal with various situations and relationships. This book taught me the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset. The growth mindset says that if you work hard enough for something, you can achieve it, and you are in control of developing your skills and talent!

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolls

Recommended by Blair Badenhop, Brand Strategist

A New Earth blew my mind open when I was in my 20’s to the fact that I am not my feelings or my thoughts.

5 Day Weekend by Garrett Gunderson and Nik Halik

Recommended by Elaine Ray, Blogger

5 Day Weekend transformed my way of thinking. My favorite quote from the book is, “If you don’t find a way to make money in your sleep, you will work until you die.”

Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein

Recommended by Elena Cirillo, Live TV Video Engineer

Spirit Junkie helped me when I was going through a tough point in my life with romantic relationship disappointments, the pressure to settle down at my age, and general anxiety.
