7 Afternoon Pick-Me-Ups from February

Is it just me, or do these shorter winter days somehow feel exceptionally long? I’ve been feeling a little cabin-feverish with the constant snow of this very intense winter. I don’t mind a little hibernation, but this feels excessive.

So, I’ve been finding little ways to brighten the long days. If you’re finding yourself needing a little boost, here are 7 afternoon pick-me-ups that have been helping me survive the end of winter.

1. A Heart-Warming Read: Theo of Golden

I just finished reading Theo of Golden, and oh my gosh. The book was a bit slower than my usual reads, but there was a continuous uplifting nature to the book that kept my attention. I’m so glad that I stuck with it because the ending was worth it. This book inspires you to slow down, connect with those around you, and you finish reading wanting to go out and do some good.

2. Healthy Cookie Dough Bark

Our friend Lillian sent me this healthy cookie bark recipe, and I’ve saved it to make this weekend. It looks like the perfect afternoon treat for when you want something sweet but not too heavy.

3. A Long-Overdue Mani/Pedi

I’m embarrassed to admit I haven’t had a mani/pedi since last June. When does one find the time? I decided to treat myself on Saturday before an engagement party, and it’s amazing how a little professional foot grooming can make you feel like a million bucks. Note to self: schedule these more often.

4. Tata Harper Refining Cleanser

This Tata Harper refining cleanser is my current morning pick-me-up. It’s the gentlest exfoliator I’ve ever used and a product I return to often. It keeps my skin soft and glowy, even in the middle of a dry winter. It’s a splurge product, but the best skin treat.

5. A Physical Magazine

A random Spring Vogue was sent to me, and it was the perfect way to spend a quiet afternoon. It reminded me of the pre-digital days when I’d stockpile magazines from Barnes and Noble and spend the afternoon leisurely reading with an iced coffee in hand. A great way to pass the time when the toddlers are napping.

7. The Vision Board Notebook

I’ve always wanted to make a vision board but never really took the time. I had an old pile of magazines I was going to toss, but then I noticed I had dog-eared a bunch of pages. I decided to turn it into a vision board notebook. I broke the pages down into specific goals: Wellness, Home, Career, Travel, and Food. It’s a fun little creative way to spend the afternoon.

7. French Cafe Lounge Playlist

I’ve been playing the French Cafe Lounge playlist on Spotify lately, and it’s become my go-to background music. Whether I’m cooking or just looking for something fun but calming to have on in the house, it’s the perfect mood-shifter. I’m instantly transported from my wintery suburban home to a Paris.
